INiT´s focus is on creating an atmosphere and environment where energy can flow and everybody can have a good time together to create the magic moments where everything just comes together perfectly. For that to happen nothing can stand out on its own – it all has to blend in together, work together and be together – visual, audio and audience. So while INiT will be a showcase for great visual art the focus is also to create a great party so everybody has a great time.

I am proud to announce that InitLive is now officially supported by the AViT network. AViT is a movement to further VJ practices. Its history goes back to 2002 when the AViT festival happened in Leeds/UK – for the first time bringing together VJs from around the world to collaborate and share ideas and knowledge and show their work. From then on the festival spread over the world with events in Germany and the US to follow. In the meantime it matured in the UK to a highly organized event with public funding culminating in the AViT Birmingham in 2005. Trademark disputes and shakeups in the group led to a rethink of strategy for AViT thereafter and a group of dedicated organizers from around the world who have been involved with either AViT or their own events have now formed an organization that is bend on furthering the VJ art form by giving logistic and networking support to big and small local VJ festivals around the world that share their vision of participation, collaboration and sharing knowledge.

A new website that will hosts events, knowledge and interviews with vjs held at the festivals (vjtalks) will be launched very soon. The European devision of AViT is also in the process of forming a very official trans-european organization.

A gesamtkunstwerk (often translated as universal artwork, synthesis of the arts, comprehensive artwork, all-embracing art form, total work of art, or total artwork) is a work of art that makes use of all or many art forms or strives to do so. The term is originally German and is commonly used as such in English, but it is often also translated or explained at first mention. It is often capitalised as in German, where all nouns are capitalised, but it is always lowercased when used with an English plural (“gesamtkunstwerks”). The term was first used by the German writer and philosopher Eusebius Trahndorff in an essay in 1827. The German opera composer Richard Wagner first used the term in his 1849 essay Art and Revolution.

In the beginning, there had always been that which had gone before… An ever replenishing amount of creation from destruction – green grown from the nutrients of biology gone by, trees over tombs, a phoenix from the fire – conjured up by the will… the meditations of man, the ceaseless and inexhaustible curiosity for more… something more… clasping and coupling and caressing Invention – the mother of all necessities.

And so… one and all of the courageous coerced their inner most fears to meet their maker, overwhelm the unknown and collaborate with the creator…

Illusion of space- a relationship beyond passiveness, a new form, finding ways to connect with the “self”, deconstruct the process of viewing sound, visual and space. this is what excites me, my present direction is to create local/remote participatory, multiplatform interactive and visual experiences. I love to bring together art, technology and cultural in an odd configuration and stretch our perceptions towards architectural spaces, surveillance and communication devices and social interactivity in today’s hybrid urban cultures.
